- Cultural Diversity in Korean Design -

The objective of this thesis
is to find solutions for the future development of Korean
design by dealing with the problematic issues within
current Korean design and Korean design education. This
analysis draws out Korean history from the colonial
era, showing how colonization destroyed Korean cultural
practice and ideology, and examines the influence of
Japan on Korea's future even after independence. Moreover,
to understand the effect of western culture's clash
with Korean culture ¡© the Korean War and rapid western
cultural movement, which influenced educational, social,
and cultural systems in Korea ¡© and how that clash changed
the original ideology of Koreans. Having the background
of brilliant traditional ideas and culture, analyzing
the problems will create a rapid path to the improvement
in Korean design and Korean design education.
